The visualization shows NASA’s analysis of global temperatures since 1880. Yellows, oranges and reds show temperatures warmer than the average during a baseline period of 1951-80. The range of blues shows temperatures cooler than the baseline period.
The analysis was done by scientists, led by James E. Hansen, at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. The visualization was created by the Scientific Visualization Studio at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
